Gallery: Picture, Sound, VideoOperation Lal Dora was conceived in 1983, with the then Prime Minister of India, Mrs. Indira Gandhi's approval and called for the secret landing of Indian troops in Mauritius.[1][2] These troops were to be launched from the 54th division and the purpose of doing this was to help the Mauritian Prime Minister Anerood Jugnauth fight off a challenge from his rival Paul Berenger which Government of India feared might take the form of an attempted coup.
In February 1983, Jugnauth travelled to New Delhi to meet with Mrs Indira Gandhi, where he asked for military assistance in the event of a coup by Berenger. Gandhi assured him of Indian support. The power struggle between Berenger and Jugnauth came to a head in March 1983. On Mauritian independence day, while Jugnauth was in New Delhi attending a Non Aligned Movement summit, Berenger arranged for the Mauritian National Anthem to be broadcast over Mauritian television in Creole, referring to Creole, instead of English, as the national language. On Jugnauth’s return to Mauritius, Berenger proposed constitutional changes that would strip power from the prime minister. The MMM-PSM government disintegrated with Berenger and most of the cabinet resigning from the government. Jugnauth was left with a small number of mostly Hindu followers.[3]
Gandhi ordered the Indian Army and Navy to prepare for a military intervention against a possible coup against the Jugnauth government. She chose to task the Research and Analysis Wing’s then chief, Nowsher F. Suntook, with supervising a largely intelligence-led operation to reunite the Indian community whose fracturing along ideological and communal lines had allowed Mr. Berenger to mount a political challenge.[4]

The treaty has recently become a matter of controversy with claims that Mauritius is being used by wealthy Indians to avoid tax and launder money of questionable origin. Attempts by the Indian government to close down the “round tripping” of Indian money are now the subject of tensions with Mauritius.

This came to light in July 1981, when a White House official mistakenly leaked to the press that the United States was seeking to counter Libyan influence in Mauritania. The overall command of the Falklands operation was held by Admiral Sir John Fieldhouse who operated from task force headquarters in Northwood, England. Command of all forces within the operational zone around the Falklands Islands initially fell to Rear Admiral John Woodward. As landing operations started at San Carlos, Commodore Michael Clapp, commander of the Amphibious Warfare Forces, took command of landing forces and reported directly to Admiral Fieldhouse at Northwood. Once established on shore, all land operations fell under the command of the commander of land forces who also reported directly to Admiral Fieldhouse in Northwood.

However, Sinha strongly advised Mrs. Gandhi against such a course of action, fearing (correctly) for its impact on army morale.

Before the beginning of this universe when there was only VAIKUNTH DHAM and a few more DHAMS, Vishnu ji was sleeping, but he has to become the controller of this universe so to awake him from #YOGNINDRA, Maa Yogmaya created 2 ASURAS from the dirt of the ears of VISHNU ji, and she order them to go and fight with Vishnu ji, then they first attack BRAHAMA ji who was attached from the navel of Vishnu ji , then BHRAMA ji pray to Vishnu ji to awake and protect him because he is the god of peace and also he can not fight, then Vishnu ji awake and tried to kill them but when he killed them, they always again stand up to fight, this fight continued for more 5000 years then BHRAMA ji remembered that when MADHU-KAITABH come to fight they say that - we are here because of mothers wish, then he think that the mother of universe Maa Kali have send them, then he prays to Maa Kali to tell any way to kill them, then Maa Kali appeared as Maa YogMaya again and tell MADHU-KAITABH that Vishnu ji is fighting with you for such a long time, he is very powerful and therefore you should give him a boon, then Vishnu ji asked the boon to kill them, now Madhu-Kaitabh said that you can kill us but not in water because they all so know that there is no place in #VAIKUNTH DHAM where their is no water, then Vishnu ji become big in size and kill them in his lap.
This doesn’t mean that Vishnu ji was not able to kill them but it was just a leela.

The story of Madhu and Kaitabha as per Devi Purana is as follows -
Birth of the demons and their prayer to Devi
Madhu and Kaitabha were two demons who were born out of Lord Vishnu's earwax when he was in Yoga Nidra. One day both of them across the Bija Mantra used to propitiate the Adi Shakti, the supreme goddess. They got obsessed with the Mantra and concentrated their mind only on Devi.
The supreme mother became happy with this and offered them a boon. The demons asked for death at their will (Ichamrityu). The supreme goddess granted them the required boon.

Once, when Lord Vishnu was in the state of yogic slumber on the ocean of dissolution, two danavas were born from his earwax and remained like stationary wooden logs. As soon as they were touched by Lord Brahma, life breath was instilled in them and they grew up covering the firmament. The Grandfather named the soft one as Madhu and hard one as Kaitabha. Maddened by their insolence and desiring to fight, they looked for a worthy opponent on the vast sheet of water.

A couple of years back, I used to visit Sri Veeraraghava temple, Thiruvallur on every Amavasya. Initially I planned to have darshan of the lord for three months.
For those who do not know, the significance of the temple is to have darshan on Amavasya. It is even more auspicious if you have a dip at the nearby tank, Hrutatapanasini.
Even after having darshan for the three consecutive months on Amavasya, I felt like continuing to have His darshan.
I successfully completed five months.
By that time, my sister called and told me about her pilgrimage plan to Naimisaranya and Ayodhya, U.P.

… (more)Rubbish question. Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are very dear to each other. They love and respect each other. They are best friends. Lord Vishnu is Swayambhu like Lord Shiva. If someone is unborn, how can he die? You might be a Shaiva but learn to respect Lord Vishnu. The same thing I tell to Vaishnav, please understand that Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are equal.
Har Har Mahadev 🙏 Jai Shri Hari 🙏
A girl on her way to marketplace, is misbehaved by a pervert.
What is one of the most common word that comes to her mind ?
Rakshas (Demon)
This is what demons were in Mahabharata and Ramayana.
But now things are changed
In Satya Yuga, Demons lived in some remote planet (patal Loka)
In Treta Yuga Demons lived in an island (Lanka)
In Mahabharata Demons were part of the same family .
And now in Kalyug, demon resides within us.
Now we need to conquer our own emotions, ego, pride, selfishness and self obsession to kill the Demon.
Rakshasas As in people like Indrajit and Ravana? Only Indrajit Stands a Chance Against Them Using His full Power (Invincibility and Powerful Maya from Fire Sacrifice). Others Like Ravana and Atikaya would Get Mauled Easily.. They'll essentially Becomes Punching Bag for These Demons who Fought with VISHNU for 5000 Years.
ANYHOW when You're Coming to Asuras, There are More Powerful Asuras Like Bhandasura , Tarakasura and Mahishasura.. They were Hard to Kill even While Being Vulnerable (without any Boon)..
No. Vishnu and Vaishnava traditions probably did not exist when Indian communities first began to migrate to the Tigris-Euphrates. Sumerian and Mesopotamian deities are Vedic in origin. Enki and Enlil are probably Varuna and Mitra.
Jaī SīyāRām!
Having Already answered this On the basis of Purāns and Vedas, This One shall be based on the epics, i.e The Vālmīkī Rāmāyana and The Māhābhārata.
Māhābhārata
- Harīvamsa Parva, chapter 1
The illustrious Vishnu Svayambhu wished to create different kinds of beings. He first created water and then released his energy into it. We have earlier heard that water is known by the name of Nara. Since he lay down on it earlier, he is known by the name of Narayana. While he lay down on the water, a golden egg was generated and Svayambhu Brahma was himself born from this. This is what we have heard.
- Harīvamsa Parva, chapter 31
the Vishvadevas and the Vasus approached and sought refuge with the immensely strong vishnu, the ultimate refuge. Narayana is the god who is full of the brahman. He is the sacrifice and its brahmana. He is the eternal god. He is the lord of the past, the present and the future. He is worshipped by the worlds. The gods sought refuge with the lord and god who is the ultimate refuge. “O lord of the gods! Save us now, so that Hiranyakashipu does not kill us. You are the supreme god. You are the supreme preceptor. O supreme god! You are the supreme protector and Brahma’s origin. O one with eyes like a blooming lotus! O one who is a terror to the side of the enemy! We have sought refuge with you, for the sake of the destruction of Diti’s lineage.”
- Adi-vamshavatarana Parva, Page 578
Vishnu himself, worshipped by all the worlds, appeared in Devaki through Vasudeva, for the welfare of the world. He is of great fame, the god without beginning and without end, the lord and creator of the universe, unmanifest, without decay, the brahman, the chief, without any attributes, the great soul, eternal, nature, the lord who controls, the prime being, the creator of the universe, the source of the sattva quality, perennial, without deterioration, infinite, incapable of being moved, the god who is the supreme soul, Lord Narayana, the upholder, perpetual, the supreme one without decay. This prime being, with infinite wealth and the lord and grandfather of all beings, took his birth in the lineage of the Andhakas and the Vrishnis in order to increase righteousness in the world.
- Kairata Parva, page 1124
You then manifested yourself in the world of men. O scorcher of enemies! You were Narayana and then you became Hari. You then became Brahma, Soma, Surya, Dharma, Dhata, Yama, Anala, Vayu, Vaishravana, Rudra, Kala, the sky, the earth and the. directions. You are without birth. You are the preceptor of everything that moves and is still. You are the creator. You are the supreme being. O Krishna! You are the original god. In the forest of Chitraratha, you performed the turayana sacrifice and other sacrifices, donating large amounts of alms. You have great energy. O Janardana! At each sacrifice, you apportioned out one hundred times, according to the share, a hundred thousand gold pieces. O beloved of the Yadavas! You have been Aditi’s son. O illustrious one! You are now famous as Vishnu, Indra’s younger brother. O scorcher of enemies! O Krishna! While you were only a child, you used your energy to cover heaven, sky and earth in three steps.
- Tīrtha Yatra Parva, Page 1323
“O bull among the Bharata lineage! The lord Vishnu Narayana is eternal and supreme among beings and is all that is, all that was and all that will be. His glorious, holy and extensive hermitage Badari is there, famous and renowned in the three worlds as a sacred place. Ganga, which carries warm waters, is different along Badari. O king! It carries cool waters laced with gold. The rishis and the gods always come and show their obeisance to the lord god Narayana, immensely fortunate and immensely energetic. O Partha! Where the supreme-souled eternal god Narayana dwells, the entire universe and all its tirthas are also there. He is sanctity. He is the supreme brahman. He is the tirtha. He is the hermitage of austerities. The devarshis, the siddhas and all the other ascetics also dwell there. Madhusudana is the original god, he is the great yogi.
- Tīrtha Yatra parva, Page 1342
‘O lord! You are the creator, the sustainer and the protector. You are the world. You are the creator of everything, with limbs and without limbs. O lotus-eyed one! In earlier times, when the earth was destroyed, for the welfare of the world, you raised it up, in the form of a boar. O supreme among beings! In ancient times, you destroyed the extremely valorous and ancient daitya Hiranyakashipu in the form of narasimha. The great asura Bali was incapable of being killed by all beings. In the form of a dwarf, you expelled him from the three worlds. The asura who was a great archer was famous by the name of Jambha. He was cruel and the obstructor of sacrifices and you ensured his destruction. Such are your deeds and they are too many to count. O Madhusudana! We are scared and frightened and you are our refuge. O god! O lord of the gods! It is for this reason and for the welfare of the world that we are bringing this to your notice. Protect the worlds, the gods and Shakra from this great fear.’
- Yaksha-yuddha Parva, Page 1469
Beyond Brahma’s abode, the supreme region of the supreme lord Narayana is resplendent. He is without beginning and without end. He is said to be the first cause of all beings. He is the true origin of all nature. Even the gods cannot see that divine and auspicious region , full of energy, without great endeavour. O king! Because of its own radiance, brighter than the sun and the fire, the region of the great-souled Vishnu is difficult for the gods and the danavas to see. When they reach there, all the stars no longer shine. The lord whose soul is never subdued, outshines them through his own brilliance
- Markandey samasya parva, Page 1357
“O supreme among brahmanas! I am known by the name of Narayana. My powers are eternal and undecaying. I am the creator and the destroyer of all beings. I am Vishnu. I am Brahma. I am Shakra, the lord of the gods. I am king Vaishravana. I am Yama, the lord of the dead. I am Shiva. I am Soma.I am Kashyapa Prajapati. O supreme among brahmanas! I am the creator and the special creator. I am the sacrifice. The fire is my mouth. The earth is my feet. The sun and the moon are my eyes. The directions and the sky are my body. The wind is established in my mind. I have performed many hundreds of sacrifices, in which large numbers of gifts have been given. I am the sacrifices performed by those learned in the Vedas. I am present in the sacrifices of the gods. On earth, the lords and kings of the kshatriyas, desirous of attaining heaven, sacrifice to me. The vaishyas, desirous of attaining heaven, also sacrifice to me.”
- markandey samasya parva, Page 1540
“He is the lord Krishna Varshneya, the ancient being. He is the mighty-armed Hari, who cannot be thought of, and who seems to be sporting. He is Satvata, the creator and the special creator and the destroyer. He is Govinda with the srivatsa mark, the universal lord of all Prajapatis. On seeing this tiger of the Vrishni lineage, the original being Vishnu who has no birth and who is dressed in yellow garb, my memory has returned to me. Madhava is the father and mother of all beings. O bulls among the Kourava lineage! Seek refuge with the one who grants protection.”
- Udyoga Parva, page 1939
O Vishnu! You killed the daityas in battle and obtained the amrita. Having bound down the great daitya Bali, you made Shakra the lord of the gods. You are the lord of all the worlds. Everything is vested in you. You are the god who is the great god. You are revered by all the worlds. O supreme among the immortals! Become the salvation of Indra and the gods.
- Yana-Sandhi Parva, Page 2089
“He is known as Narayana because he is the path followed by men. He is Purushottama because he fills up and destroys again. He is Sarva because he is the origin and the dissolution of everything that exists and does not exist, and because he is a witness to everything. Krishna is established in truth and truth is established in him. Govinda is the truth that is beyond truth and that is the reason he has the name of Satya. The god is known as Vishnu because of his valour. He is known as Jishnu because of his triumphs. He is Ananta because he is eternal. He is Govinda because he knows about the cattle. He can make the unreal appear as real. Thus, he deludes all beings. Such is he, the illustrious one who is always with hermits. He is always based in dharma. The mighty-armed Achyuta will arrive to prevent violence.”
Bhagavat-Yana Parva, Page 2203
When the great-souled Shouri was laughing, the thirty gods sprouted from his sides. They were like lightning, but were as small as a thumb. They were as radiant as the fire. Brahma appeared on his forehead and Rudra on his chest. The guardians of the world were on his arms and Agni was created from his mouth. The Adityas, the Sadhyas, the Vasus, the Ashvins, Indra and the Maruts and the Vishvadevas manifested themselves and the forms of the yakshas, the gandharvas and the rakshasas also appeared. Sankarshana and Dhananjaya appeared on his two arms, the archer Arjuna on the right And Rama, the wielder of the plough, on the left. Bhima, Yudhishthira and Madri’s two sons appeared on his back. The Andhakas and the Vrishnis, with Pradyumna at the head, appeared in front of Krishna, with their great weapons raised up. The conch shell, the chakra, the club, the spear, the Sharnga, the plough and Nandaka could be seen. And many other weapons were raised up. They were radiant in all the directions, around Krishna’s many arms. From his eyes, nose and ears emerged extremely terrible flames of fire with smoke. Rays like those of the sun emerged from the pores of his body. When they saw the terrible form of the great-souled Keshava, all the kings were frightened in their hearts and closed their eyes, with the exception of Drona, Bhishma, the immensely intelligent Vidura, the immensely fortunate Sanjaya and the rishis, rich in austerities, because the illustrious Janardana gave them divine sight.

“Know that all living beings are manifested by these two energies of mine. I am the source of the entire creation, and into me it again dissolves. There is nothing higher than myself, O Arjun. Everything rests in me, as beads strung on a thread."
- 7.10
O Arjun, know that I am the eternal seed of all beings. I am the intellect of the intelligent, and the splendor of the glorious.
- 9.4
This entire cosmic manifestation is pervaded by Me in My unmanifest form. All living beings dwell in Me, but I do not dwell in them
- 11.10–11.11
In that cosmic form, Arjun saw unlimited faces and eyes, decorated with many celestial ornaments and wielding many kinds of divine weapons. He wore many garlands on his body and was anointed with many sweet-smelling heavenly fragrances. He revealed himself as the wonderful and infinite Lord whose face is everywhere. If a thousand suns were to blaze forth together in the sky, they would not match the splendor of that great form. There Arjun could see the totality of the entire universe established in one place, in that body of the God of gods.

As a protector, Lakshmana’s prosperous elder brother is like the protector of the three worlds. He will be the supreme protector. By entrusting this entire earth to such a son now, I will do what is beneficial and ensure that it suffers from no hardships

“The torrents of my arrows will reduce the gods, the danavas, the yakshas and the rakshasas in the worlds into many fragments and they will fall down. Today, my arrows will destroy all the agreements in the worlds. O Lakshmana! All beings can never counter old age, death, time and destiny. In that way, when I am enraged, there is no doubt that I cannot be repulsed. Either Brahma the self-existing god with four faces or Rudra with three eyes and the destroyer of Tripura (the city built of gold, silver and iron in the sky, air and earth, by Maya for the demons and burnt by Shiva), or Mahendra the god of atmosphere and sky as also the lord of celestials would not be able to protect the one to be killed by Rama in battle.”

O supreme among intelligent ones! You decided toact cruelly towards that crow. You picked up a blade of darbha grass and invoked brahmastra on it. It blazed like the flaming fire of destruction and headed in the direction of the bird. You flung the blazing darbha towards the crow. The blazing darbha followed the crow. How did Vishnu and Shiva originate? How did Shiva came from nowhere and became the most powerful Hindu god?
To know the answers to these questions we must go back to Rig Veda, on which everything in Hinduism is based.
Our knowledge of Rig Veda is based on the literal meanings of the verses and not its intended meanings. The literal meaning itself is considered as a fact.
Rig Veda is supposed to be about fire rituals to appease gods. Thus, Agni, the fire god, becomes central to it.
What is Rig Veda about?
The sages of Vedic period realized that an idea is converted into action in seven stages. Their aim was to convert an idea into an action instinctively, with absolute reliability and efficiency.
Rig Veda is actually about isometric exercises called Vedic Meditation. It about a mechanism, called Brahman, that converts an idea into an action instinctively, after ensuring that the idea is compatible with all other ideas of life. Agni symbolizes manual / controllable force, used for testing the exercise in a controlled way.
However, in the Rig Vedic period the concept of the stages was vague.
It is only in the Puranic period the order of gods was clear.
It was realized that, ideally, the compatibility of an idea be checked with all other ideas of life and then an attempt is made to convert it into an action. If the idea is not converted into an action the idea returns to the default stage, which later came to be knows as Narayana.
The graph generated is what we call Atman.
The whole of Atman symbolizes Vishnu, the positive half, Shiva and the negative half, Vishnu.
It is for this reason that many think that Vishnu and Shiva are the same. For the same reason, names of Shiva appear in Vishnu Sahasranama.
Deriving Vishnu from Atman is not difficult.
- Atman is like sea wave and therefore Vishnu is associated with water and has the color of water.
- The frequency variation of Atman is symbolized by Chakra.
- The amplitude variation by Mace.
- The Conch symbolizes the fact that
- Vishnu makes our life as flexible as water. The Lotus symbolizes manual force.
Shiva symbolizes the action part of Vishnu and thus for converting an idea into an action Shiva is more powerful than Vishnu.
Now Shiva is symbolized by Shivalingam and Shiva himself is considered to be formless Para Brahman.
Rudra is Shiva in most powerful form.
Shiva, in this extreme form, will enable as to keep an idea in a state of suspended animation eternally so that we can convert it into an action when the opportunity is the best. It is for this reason that he is known as Adi Yogi (Adi-eternal).
Yoga means link (between idea and action).
Shiva is associated with graveyard because if an idea is not converted into an action in Shiva stage it will get abolished.
Therefore, Vishnu and Shiva are eternal. Their properties were understood in the Rig Vedic and Puranic periods, making some people to think that Vishnu and Shiva were created in the Vedic and Puranic periods.
HARE KRISHNA
1) Hiranyakashipu
Feats of Hiranyakashipu :
My dear Lord, people in general want to be elevated to the higher planetary systems for a long duration of life, opulence and enjoyment, but I have seen all of these through the activities of my father. When my father was angry and he laughed sarcastically at the demigods, they were immediately vanquished simply by seeing the movements of his eyebrows. Yet my father, who was so powerful, has now been vanquished by You within a moment.
~SB 7.9.23
Hiraṇyakaśipu became the conqueror of the entire universe. Indeed, that great demon conquered all the planets in the three worlds — upper, middle and lower — including the planets of the human beings, the Gandharvas, the Garuḍas, the great serpents, the Siddhas, Cāraṇas and Vidyādharas, the great saints, Yamarāja, the Manus, the Yakṣas, the Rākṣasas, the Piśācas and their masters, and the masters of the ghosts and Bhūtas. He defeated the rulers of all the other planets where there are living entities and brought them under his control. Conquering the abodes of all, he seized their power and influence. Hiraṇyakaśipu, who possessed all opulence, began residing in heaven, with its famous Nandana garden, which is enjoyed by the demigods. The demigods, however, being very much oppressed, had to bow down and offer obeisances at the feet of Hiraṇyakaśipu, who chastised the demigods very severely and for no reason. Thus Hiraṇyakaśipu lived in the palace and severely ruled everyone. O my dear King, Hiraṇyakaśipu was always drunk on strong-smelling wines and liquors, and therefore his coppery eyes were always rolling. Nonetheless, because he had powerfully executed great austerities in mystic yoga, although he was abominable, all except the three principal demigods — Lord Brahmā, Lord Śiva and Lord Viṣṇu — personally worshiped him to please him by bringing him various presentations with their own hands. O Mahārāja Yudhiṣṭhira, descendant of Pāṇḍu, by dint of his personal power, Hiraṇyakaśipu, being situated on the throne of King Indra, controlled the inhabitants of all the other planets. The two Gandharvas Viśvāvasu and Tumburu, I myself and the Vidyādharas, Apsarās and sages all offered prayers to him again and again just to glorify him. Being worshiped by sacrifices offered with great gifts by those who strictly followed the principles of varṇa and āśrama, Hiraṇyakaśipu, instead of offering shares of the oblations to the demigods, accepted them himself. As if in fear of Hiraṇyakaśipu, the planet earth, which consists of seven islands, delivered food grains without being plowed. Thus it resembled cows like the surabhi of the spiritual world or the kāma-dughā of heaven. The valleys between the mountains became fields of pleasure for Hiraṇyakaśipu, by whose influence all the trees and plants produced fruits and flowers profusely in all seasons. The qualities of pouring water, drying and burning, which are all qualities of the three departmental heads of the universe — namely Indra, Vāyu and Agni — were all directed by Hiraṇyakaśipu alone, without assistance from the demigods. In spite of achieving the power to control in all directions and in spite of enjoying all types of dear sense gratification as much as possible, Hiraṇyakaśipu was dissatisfied because instead of controlling his senses he remained their servant. Everyone, including the rulers of the various planets, was extremely distressed because of the severe punishment inflicted upon them by Hiraṇyakaśipu.
~Shrimad Bhagvatam Canto 7 chapter 4
Hiranyakashipu's arsenal:
All the divine weapons and arrows shall become embodied for me in great battles. O the lord of deva-s! O the grandfather of all worlds! Let it be established thus.
~ Mahabharata Harivamsha Parva 3.41.18
When the assembly was being destroyed Hiraṇyakaśipu himself, with his eyes full of anger, threw missiles at the lion: The very terrible missile of all missiles called ‘Daṇḍa’, the fierce deadly disc, another missile called Viṣṇu-cakra, the great missile of the grandsire—the great and fearful missile fashioned in the three worlds, the Aśani missile, the two Aśani missiles—dry and wet, terrible and fearful spear, skeleton (used as a missile), pestle, the missile called ‘Brahmaśiras’, the missile known as ‘Brahmāstra’, the missile called ‘Nārāyaṇāstra’ (i.e. of Nārāyaṇa), ‘Aindrāstra’ (of Indra), ‘Āgneyāstra’ (i.e. of Agni) and ‘Śaisirāstra’ (i.e. of the winter, i.e. causing cold), ‘Vāyavyāstra’ (i.e. of Vāyu), ‘Mathana’ (i.e. destructive), ‘Kapāla’ (skull) that was (always) obedient, a powerful missile never repulsed, a missile named ‘Krauñca’, ‘Mohana’ (deluding), ‘Śoṣaṇa’ (drying up), ‘Santapana’ (tormenting) and ‘Vilapana’ (causing to weep), ‘Kampana’ (causing to tremble), ‘Śāntana’ (making dull), the great missile that would obstruct (the movements), fatal mallet, the very powerful tormenting missile that could not be stumbled, the destructive, deluding and excellent missile having (the power of causing) illusion, the missile called ‘Gandharvāstra’ dear to him, ‘Nandaka’, the gem of a sword, the best missile called ‘Varuṇāstra’ causing sleep and destruction, the missile called ‘Pāśupata’, the scope of which was never resisted. Hiraṇyakaśipu discharged all the divine weapons at Narasiṃha, as one would throw an oblation into fire.
~Padma Purana, Srishti Khanda chapter 45
Boons obtained by Hiranyakashipu:
Projecting into existence and withdrawing once more unto himself all things fraught with good and evil, that inconceivable Deity whom thou seekest, O destroyer of foes, lives here with his spouse. He who took his birth as the Danava named Hiranyakashipu, whose strength was so great that he could shake the very mountains of Meru, succeeded in obtaining from Mahadeva the puissance belonging to all the deities and enjoyed it for ten millions of years.
~Mahabharata Anusasana Parva: Anusasanika Parva: Section XIV
Then hiraNyakashipu, the best among demons, the auspicious one, with his soul pleased, with folded hands spoke as follows. Neither the deva-s, nor the demons, gandharva-s, yakSha-s, serpents, rAkShasa-s, nor the men, demons who prefer flesh, shall never ever kill me. O the grandfather of all the worlds! The sages shall never get angry with me and curse me. This is the boon I want, suitable for my penance. No one shall never ever kill me with a weapon, arrow, mountain or tree, dry or wet or any other things. No one shall never ever kill me in heaven, netherworld, sky, any place on earth, inside, outside, night or day. The one who is capable of killing me, along with my servants, army and vehicles with a single strike of hand, may become my death. I shall be the sun, moon, wind, fire and water, atmosphere, stars, all the ten directions. I am the anger, the god of love, varuNa (god of water), vAsava (indra) and yama. I shall be kubera, the lord of wealth. I shall be the king of yakSha-s and kimpuruSha-s.
~Mahabharata: Harivamsha Parva: Bhavishya Parva chapter 41
2) Mahishasura
Mahishasura's power:
In days of yore, a terrible battle ensued between the Devas and Dānava forces on this earth when Mahiṣāsura was the Ruler of the three worlds. O king! Mahiṣāsura went to the mountain of Sumeru and performed a very severe and excellent tapasyā, wonderful even to the gods. The chief Dānavas installed Mahiṣa on the throne. O king! The very powerful Raktavīja and the Dānava Mahiṣa, thus took their births and became invincible of the Devas, Dānavas and human beings. O king! I have now described to you the birth of the highsouled Dānava Mahiṣa and his getting the boon, all in detail. He is extremely invulnerable.
~Shrimad Devi Bhagwatam Book 5 chapter 6
He had Samvari Maya which could destroy all the worlds. He could make crores of clones of himself, each capable of defeating all gods and the 3 worlds.
The Demon Mahiṣa spread then his Śāmvarī Māyā, destructive to all the worlds and fascinating to the Munis. Hundreds and hundreds of powerful buffalo-like appearances resembling Mahiṣa became, then, visible on the battle-field; they all began to kill the Deva forces with weapons in their hands.
~Shrimad Devi Bhagwatam Book 5 chapter 6
Mahishasura's feats :
Seeing this magic of the Dānava, Indra became thunderstruck and very much confounded with terror. Varuṇa, Kuvera, the Lord of wealth, Yama, Fire, Moon, Sun, and other Devas all fled with terror. Indra then, being surrounded by the network of magic, began to call Brahmā, Viṣṇu and Maheśa in his mind. The Dānava Mahiṣa struck Garuḍa, the conveyance of Hari, with his club; Garuḍa, being very much distressed with the blow, sat down, gasping. Indra and the Devas were much distressed with fear and began to cry aloud. The powerful Dānava, then, swelled with pride, began to hurl the mountain tops with his horns, thus killing the Deva forces. Some by hoofs and some by the lashing of the tail, that angry Mahiṣa, very wonderful to behold, sent to the region of Death. Then the Devas and Gandarbhas became very much frightened; so much so, that Indra fled away at once on the sight of Mahiṣa. Indra thus retreating from the field, Yama, Kuvera, and Varuṇa all quitted the battle-ground with fear. Indra fled away quitting his Airāvata elephant and Uccaiśravā horse; so Mahiṣa got the possession of the elephant and the horse, as well the heavenly cow of the Sun. So the Dānavas considered themselves pre-eminently victorious and returned to their abodes. Next they wanted to go, as early as possible, to the Heavens, with all their forces. Thus fighting full one hundred years, the Dānava Mahiṣa, puffed up with pride, acquired the seat of Indra, his desired object. He banished the Devas from the Heavens; the Devas, thus tormented began to wander in the caves of hills and dales for a period of good many years. In no time Mahiṣa went to the abode of Indra, deserted by all the terror-stricken Devas and got the possession thereof. Then taking his seat on the beautiful throne of Indra, he made the other Dānavas occupy the several seats of the other Devas. O Bibhu! It is You that gave before this boon to Mahiṣa; and therefore it is you that have wrought this mischief. Dānava has become so strong a hero that he has caused terror to all the Devas even. Now where can we get such a noble woman who becomes able to kill that Dānava, elated with pride.
~Shrimad Devi Bhagwatam Book 5 chapter 6–7
He was a champion in changing forms be it smallest or largest.
Mahiṣāsura, the tormentor of Devas then, quitting the man-form took up the lion-form and by his claws cut the Devī’s lion and wounded him very much by his nails. On Mahiṣāsura taking up this lion-form, the Devī became very angry and began to shoot arrows after arrows at him all very terrible, sharp and like poisonous snakes. Then the Asura quitting the lion form assumed the appearance of a male elephant, oozing out juice from his temples and began to hurl the mountain tops by his trunk. Seeing the mountain peaks thus hurled on Her, She cut them off to pieces by Her sharp arrows and began to laugh. The Devī’s lion on the other hand, sprang on the head of the elephant Mahiṣa and by his claws rent him to pieces. To kill the Devī’s lion, then, Mahiṣa quitted his elephant-form and assumed the appearance of a Sarabha, more powerful and terrible than lion. The Devī seeing that Sarabha became angry and struck on the head of that Sarabha with Her axe; the Sarabha, too, attacked the Devī. Their fight became horrible; Mahiṣāsura, then, assumed the appearance of a buffalo and struck the Bhagavatī by his horns. That horrible Asura, of hideous appearance, swinging his tail, began to attack the thin bodied Devī. That violent Asura caught hold of the mountain peaks by his tail and, whirling them round and round, hurled them on the Devī. The Devī said :-- “O Villain! Do not boast; keep yourself firm in the fight. Today I will kill you and make the Devas discard their fear. O Wretch! You are a Sinner; you torment the Devas and terrify the Munis. I will slay you undoubtedly.” Vyāsa said :-- O King! Saying thus, the Devī pursued him with trident in Her hands, to the great joy of gladdening all the Devas. The Devas began to rain showers of flowers on the Devī and praised Her and shouted victories to Her with Dundubhi (a Divine drum) Jai, Jīva; victory, live. The Ṛṣis, Siddhas, Gandarbhas, Piśācas, Uragas, and Kinnaras witnessed the battle from the celestial space and became very much delighted. On the other hand, Mahiṣāsura, the hypocrite Pundit, began to assume various magic forms and struck the Devī repeatedly. The Devī Caṇḍikā, then, infuriated and with eyes reddened, pierced violently the breast of that vicious Mahiṣa with Her sharp trident.
~Shrimad Devi Bhagwatam Book 5 chapter 18
Mahishasura's boon:
Mahiṣa said :-- “O Grand Sire! Grant, then, that no Deva, Dānava, nor human being of the male sex can cause my death. There is none among women who can cause my death. Therefore, O Lotus-eyed! Let woman be the cause of my death; how can women slay me! The are too weak to kill me!” Brahmā said :-- “O Lord of the Dānavas! Your death will certainly occur, at any time, through a woman; O Highly Fortunate One! No man will be able to cause your death.”
~Shrimad Devi Bhagwatam Book 5 chapter 6
3) Hiranyaksha
Lord Brahma's boon had made him powerful. Indradeva and all gods ran away scared by his mere sight.
His younger brother, Hiraṇyākṣa, was always ready to satisfy his elder brother by his activities. Hiraṇyākṣa took a club on his shoulder and traveled all over the universe with a fighting spirit just to satisfy Hiraṇyakaśipu. Hiraṇyākṣa’s temper was difficult to control. He had anklets of gold tinkling about his feet, he was adorned with a gigantic garland, and he rested his huge mace on one of his shoulders. His mental and bodily strength as well as the boon conferred upon him had made him proud. He feared death at the hands of no one, and there was no checking him. The gods, therefore, were seized with fear at his very sight, and they hid themselves even as snakes hide themselves for fear of Garuḍa. On not finding Indra and the other demigods, who had previously been intoxicated with power, the chief of the Daityas, seeing that they had all vanished before his might, roared loudly.
~Shrimad Bhagvatam Canto 3 Chapter 17
He drowned entire Earth into depths of ocean.
Maitreya continued: The proud and falsely glorious Daitya paid little heed to the words of Varuṇa. O dear Vidura, he learned from Nārada the whereabouts of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and hurriedly betook himself to the depths of the ocean. He saw there the all-powerful Personality of Godhead in His boar incarnation, bearing the earth upward on the ends of His tusks and robbing him of his splendor with His reddish eyes. The demon laughed: Oh, an amphibious beast!
~Shrimad Bhagvatam Canto 3 Chapter 18
Bhagwan Brahmaji praised his valour.
Lord Brahmā said: My dear Lord, this demon has proved to be a constant pinprick to the demigods, the brāhmaṇas, the cows and innocent persons who are spotless and always dependent upon worshiping Your lotus feet. He has become a source of fear by unnecessarily harassing them. Since he has attained a boon from me, he has become a demon, always searching for a proper combatant, wandering all over the universe for this infamous purpose. Lord Brahmā continued: My dear Lord, there is no need to play with this serpentine demon, who is always very skilled in conjuring tricks and is arrogant, self-sufficient and most wicked.
~Shrimad Bhagvatam Canto 3 Chapter 18
When he used his Mayavi powers, then all gods thought that dissolution of universe had begun.
The demon, however, employed many conjuring tricks against the Personality of Godhead, who is the Lord of yoga-māyā. At the sight of this the people were filled with alarm and thought that the dissolution of the universe was near. Fierce winds began to blow from all directions, spreading darkness occasioned by dust and hail storms; stones came in volleys from every corner, as if thrown by machine guns. The luminaries in outer space disappeared due to the sky’s being overcast with masses of clouds, which were accompanied by lightning and thunder. The sky rained pus, hair, blood, stool, urine and bones. O sinless Vidura, mountains discharged weapons of various kinds, and naked demonesses armed with tridents appeared with their hair hanging loose. Cruel and savage slogans were uttered by hosts of ruffian Yakṣas and Rākṣasas, who all either marched on foot or rode on horses, elephants or chariots.
~Shrimad Bhagvatam Canto 3 Chapter 19
When he was born, then entire universe and the 3 worlds saw many natural disasters.
On the birth of the two demons there were many natural disturbances, all very fearful and wonderful, in the heavenly planets, the earthly planets and in between them. There were earthquakes along the mountains on the earth, and it appeared that there was fire everywhere. Many inauspicious planets like Saturn appeared, along with comets, meteors and thunderbolts. There blew winds which were most uninviting to the touch, hissing again and again and uprooting gigantic trees. They had storms for their armies and clouds of dust for their ensigns. The luminaries in the heavens were screened by masses of clouds, in which lightning sometimes flashed as though laughing. Darkness reigned everywhere, and nothing could be seen. The ocean with its high waves wailed aloud as if stricken with sorrow, and there was a commotion among the creatures inhabiting the ocean. The rivers and lakes were also agitated, and lotuses withered. Misty halos appeared around the sun and the moon during solar and lunar eclipses again and again. Claps of thunder were heard even without clouds, and sounds like those of rattling chariots emerged from the mountain caves. In the interior of the villages she-jackals yelled portentously, vomiting strong fire from their mouths, and jackals and owls also joined them with their cries. Raising their necks, dogs cried here and there, now in the manner of singing and now of wailing. O Vidura, the asses ran hither and thither in herds, striking the earth with their hard hooves and wildly braying. Frightened by the braying of the asses, birds flew shrieking from their nests, while cattle in the cowsheds as well as in the woods passed dung and urine. Cows, terrified, yielded blood in place of milk, clouds rained pus, the images of the gods in the temples shed tears, and trees fell down without a blast of wind. Ominous planets such as Mars and Saturn shone brighter and surpassed the auspicious ones such as Mercury, Jupiter and Venus as well as a number of lunar mansions. Taking seemingly retrograde courses, the planets came in conflict with one another.
~Shrimad Bhagvatam Canto 3 Chapter 17
4) Kartvirya Arjuna
He is the incarnation of Mighty Sudarshan chakra of Parameshwara Shriman Narayana. Sudarshan Chakra is Kundalini Shakti of Supreme Lord Vishnu. He is known as Dashgrivavijayi since he had defeated and humiliated loser Ravan.
Kartvirya's feats:
I shall also relate the achievements of the great ruler of the Haihaya tribe. That king, Arjuna by name, the mighty lord of the Haihaya tribe was killed by Rama. He, O Pandu's son, was endued with a thousand arms; and by the favour of Dattatreya he likewise had a celestial car made of gold. And, O protector of the earth, his rule extended over the entire animated world, wheresoever located on this earth. And the car of that mighty monarch could proceed everywhere in an unobstructed course. And grown resistless by the virtue of a granted boon, he ever mounted on that car, trampled upon gods and Yakshas and saints on all sides round. Then the celestials and the saints of a rigidly virtuous life, met together, and thus spake to Vishnu, the god of gods, the slayer of demons, and possessed of prowess that never failed, saying. And the mighty ruler of the Haihaya tribe placing himself on his celestial car, affronted Indra, while that deity was enjoying himself with Sachi, his queen. Then, O Bharata's son, the blessed and the revered god (Vishhnu) held a consultation with Indra, with a view to destroying Kartavirya's son.
~Mahabharara: Vana Parva: Tirtha-yatra Parva: Section CXV
There was a king of the name of Karttaviryya-Arjuna who was endued with a thousand arms. He conquered, with his bow, the Earth, extending to the shores of the ocean.
~Mahabharata: Aswamedha Parva: Anugita Parva: Section XXIX
Kartavirya who had never been vanquished before by foes. With his bow he slew four and sixty times ten thousand Kshatriyas already within the jaws of death. In that slaughter were included fourteen thousand Brahmana-hating Kshatriyas of the Dantakura country, all of whom he slew.
~Mahabharata: Drona Parva: Abhimanyu-badha Parva: Section LXX
Meanwhile the mighty son of Kritavirya, viz., Arjuna of the Kshatriya order and ruler of the Haihayas, endued with great energy, highly virtuous in behaviour, and possessed of a thousand arms through the grace of (the great Rishi) Dattatreya, having subjugated in battle, by the might of his own arms, the whole earth with her mountains and seven islands, became a very powerful emperor and at last gave away the earth unto the Brahmanas in a horse-sacrifice.
~Mahabharata: Shanti Parva: Rajadharmanusasana Parva: Section L
valmiki Ramayana mentioned that his physical strength is infinite.
O one with a face like the full moon! Since you have vanquished Dashagriva, your strength is infinite. My grandson is extremely difficult to defeat. The oceans and the winds remain immobile and stationary, out of their fear for him. But you have captured him today like a slave. O son! Your fame has been enhanced and your name has been heard everywhere.
~valmiki Ramayana Critical Edition
Mahabharata has clearly mentioned that he defeated loser ravan with just 5 arrows. He had humiliated and imprisoned loser Ravan and the latter was not even powerful enough to free himself from the jail of Kartvirya Arjuna. Kartvirya released Ravan due to requests of Rishi Pulatsya (loser Ravan's grandfather), he released loser Ravan.
At one time kArtavIrya-arjuna vanquished rAavaNa, the haughty king of lanka, along with his army just with his might; made him senseless with five arrows; bound him with bowstring; brought him to the city of mahiShmati and kept him in prison... hearing that his son had been imprisoned, sage pulastya, father of rAvaNa, went to see the king personally... then kArtavIrya-arjuna set rAvaNa free as supplicated by his father, namely sage pulastya...
~Mahbharata Harivansha Parva chapter 33
He became lord of all the worlds.
Bhishma said, 'In this connection is cited this old narrative of a conversation between Pavana and Arjuna, O Bharata! Endued with a thousand arms and great beauty the mighty Kartavirya, in days of yore, became the lord of all the worlds. He had his capital in the city of Mahishmati. Of unbaffled prowess, that chief of the Haihaya race of Kshatriyas swayed the whole earth with her belt of seas, together with all her islands and all her precious mines of gold and gems. Keeping before him the duties of the Kshatriya order, as also humility and Vedic knowledge, the king made large gifts of wealth unto the Rishi Dattatreya. Indeed, the son of Kritavirya thus adored the great ascetic who, becoming pleased with him, asked him to solicit three boons. Thus requested by the Rishi in respect of boons, the king addressed him, saying, 'Let me become endued with a thousand arms when I am in the midst of my troops. While, however, I remain at home let me have, as usual only two arms! Indeed, let combatants, when engaged in battle, behold me possessed of a thousand arms, observant also of high vows, let me succeed in subjugating the whole earth by dint of my prowess. Having acquired the earth righteously, let me sway her with vigilance. There is a fourth boon which, O foremost of regenerate persons, I solicit thee to grant. O faultless one, in consequence of the disposition to favour me, it behoveth thee to grant it to me. Dependent that I am on thee, whenever I may happen to go wrong, let the righteous come forth to instruct and set me right! Thus addressed, the Brahmana replied unto the king, saying, 'So let it be!' Even thus were those boons acquired by that king of blazing effulgence. Riding then on his car whose splendour resembled that of fire or the Sun, the monarch, blinded by his great prowess, said, 'Who, indeed, is there that can be regarded as my equal in patience and energy, in fame and heroism, in prowess and strength?'
~Mahabharata: Anusasana Parva: Section CLII
He revealed his special ability.
"Arjuna said, 'When gratified, I am able to create many creatures. When angry, I am able to destroy all. In thought, word, and deed, I am the foremost. The Brahmana is certainly not above me!' The first proposition here is that the Brahmana is superior to the Kshatriya.
~Mahabharata: Anusasana Parva: Section CLII
He had casually stopped flow of entire Narmada river with his arms just for fun and drowned loser Ravan by making the river flow in opposite direction.
Once while enjoying in the water of the river Narmadā, the puffed-up Kārtavīryārjuna, surrounded by beautiful women and garlanded with a garland of victory, stopped the flow of the water with his arms. Because Kārtavīryārjuna made the water flow in the opposite direction, the camp of Rāvaṇa, which was set up on the bank of the Narmadā near the city of Māhiṣmatī, was inundated. This was unbearable to the ten-headed Rāvaṇa, who could not tolerate Kārtavīryārjuna’s power. When Rāvaṇa attempted to insult Kārtavīryārjuna in the presence of the women and thus offended him, Kārtavīryārjuna easily arrested Rāvaṇa and put him in custody in the city of Māhiṣmatī, just as one captures a monkey, and then released him neglectfully.
~Shrimad Bhagvatam Canto 9 Chapter 15
He had all 8 the siddhis (supernatural powers) by grace of Bhagwan Shri Dattatreyaji. Lord also granted him 1000 insanely powerful arms. He had boon of all-time invincibility and infinite physical strength from Lord Dattatreya.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī said: The best of the kṣatriyas, Kārtavīryārjuna, the King of the Haihayas, received one thousand arms by worshiping Dattātreya, the plenary expansion of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Nārāyaṇa. He also became undefeatable by enemies and received unobstructed sensory power, beauty, influence, unlimited strength, fame and the mystic power by which to achieve all the perfections of yoga, such as aṇimā and laghimā. Thus having become fully opulent, he roamed all over the universe without opposition, just like the wind.
~SB 9.15.17
In Shrimad Bhagavatam, he is said to be emodiement of all demigods.
O great hero, my dear son Paraśurāma, you have unnecessarily killed the king, who is supposed to be the embodiment of all the demigods. Thus you have committed a sin.
~SB 9.15.38
He possessed Infallible Trident of Bhagwan Shri Dattatreyaji which had strength to kill Indra along with all Devtas and all the demons.
Thereafter, for slaying Bhārgava in the battle the king took up the trident that had been given to him by Datta and that had never been futile. He took it up with due chanting of mantras. That trident had the lustre of a hundred suns. It could not be checked by Suras or Asuras.Aiming it at Rāma, he hurled it with his entire strength. The trident fell on the head of Bhārgava, O lord of the Earth.

The king at that point of time shot the trident bestowed to him by Dattatreya for killing his enemy which was always successful in its mission. Parasurama then saw the trident emitting lustre of crores of suns which was extremely glorious and emitted fire like the fire of dissolution. Even the gods were unable to face it.

Kartvirya Arjuna's arsenal:
Without any weapon you wish to kill Arjuna, the king with a thousand arms, by whom even Rāvaṇa was contemptuously discomfited by a sportive knitting of his eyebrows. To him the coat of mail of Lord Viṣṇu had been given as also the Śaktī (Divine javelin) of excessive potentiality. How do you aspire to kill him?
Source : Brahmanda Purana section 3 chapter 32
O ascetic, he has been provided with a kavaca of the lord by the Dattatreya and there is no let up in his prowess which never decreases because of which he has killed your father. He is the one who recites the name of the lord throughout day and night. Who can kill him on earth? I don’t have any such person known to me.

Parasurama the son of Bhrgu then used the weapon of Mahesvara which was neutralised by the king, by using the Vaisnava weapon.

For killing the leading scion of the family of Bhṛgu, that powerful king holding all kinds of weapons and miraculous missiles, fitted the Brahmāstra (the miraculous missile having Brahmā for its deity). The king sipped air (in lieu of water) ceremoniously and discharged the excellent Āgneya (having the fire-god as its deity) missile which Rāma suppressed quickly by means of Vāruṇa (having Varuṇa for its deity) missile. The king then discharged the Gāndharva missile which the holy lord (Rāma) struck by means of a Vāyavya (having wind god for its deity) rṇissile. Rāma cut off the Nāga missile (having serpents for its deity) by means of the Gāruḍa missile, O King.

O Narada, thereafter Parashurama used Brahmastra for the destruction of the king. The king also used the same type of Brahmastra neutralising the one shot by Parasurama.Thereafter Parasurama shot the fire arrows in the battle-field, as a result of which, everything was in flames in the battle-field. The king on his part shot the Varuna-arrow, which extinguished the fire making the atmosphere peaceful. Parasurama then shot Gandharvastra which emitted mountains and snakes which was neutralised by the king by shooting the wind arrow.Parashurama then shot Nagastra which was quite terrific but the king neutralised it by shooting Garudastra which destroyed the serpent without much effort.

He had effortlessly defeated that overrated loser Ravan along with his army just by knitting of his eyebrows.
In the meantime surprised as she was, Durgā laughed a lot, O great king and said to Bhārgava who was bent on wreaking revenge. “O ascetic, O son of a Brāhmaṇa, out of anger you wish to make this Earth devoid of kings twenty-one times. Great indeed is your daring rashness, O boy. Without any weapon you wish to kill Arjuna, the king with a thousand arms, by whom even Rāvaṇa was contemptuously defeated by a sportive knitting of his eyebrows.

5) loser Ravan
He was an overrated useless demon. He is a mere dust particle in front of all above warriors.
He failed to even move just an earring of Hiranyakashipu.
“O Descendant of Raghu, hearing this, the highly powerful Rakshasa, laughing, proceeded to where that celestial disc was. Proud of his strength he deemed himself able to lift it with ease but, taking hold of it, he could not move it by any means and, being ashamed, that highly powerful one again attempted it and barely raising it, that Rakshasa immediately fell to the earth unconscious, bathed in a pool of blood, like unto a Sala Tree that has been felled.

Kartvirya defeated Ravan and imprisoned him.
“Still wounded by the the mace of Arjuna, Ravana, after hiding tears, ran away at a distance of four feet and stood there. Beholding Ravana thus overwhelmed, Arjuna sprung up and caught him like Garuda holding a serpant and Vishnu binding Bali. Dasagriva being thus bonded the Siddhas, Charanas and the Devas exclaimed, "Well done! Well done !!"showered flowers upon Arjuna. Having thus struck terror unto to night rangers, he, encircled by his own kinsmen, repaired to his own city with Ravana. carrying him bound like unto Indra carrying Bali bound. Thereupon flowers and fried paddy were showered upon him by the Brahmanas and citizens.”once when Kartavirya Arjuna was having a bath in the river Narmada along with his wives, he stopped the force of the river with his thousand arms from both sides. ... Enraged, he challenged the former for combat in which Ravana was defeated and was put to humiliation. Kaartveerya Arjun dragged ravan and imprisoned him .On request of ravan’s grandfather ‘Ravana, the lord of the rakshasas, was freed by Arjuna. He roamed around the earth, slighting everyone.

Ravan was nothing in front of Bhagwan Shri Hanumanji. See yourself what Hanumanji’s single Punch hit with much less force did to Ravan:
Thereupon, the enraged Hanuma the son of the Wind-God, approached Ravana and struck angrily on his chest with his fist, resembling a thunder-bolt. By that blow of the fist, Ravana the Lord of Demons reeled, stumbled and fell fainted on to the ground. A lot of blood oozed out from his face, nose, arms, eyes, and ears. Reeled and motionless, he became and sat in the middle of the chariot. He was unconscious and swooned. He could not acquire stability. He lost his senses, stupefied and not knowing where he was. Seeing Ravana swooned on the battle-field, sages and monkeys began to shout in triumph as did also celestials and the demons (invisibly present on the scene).

Even Sugriva had defeated loser Ravan in a physical bout. So he was physically weaker than even Sugriva.
Meanwhile, Ravana decided to common using his magic power. Knowing it, Sugreeva flew into the sky triumphantly shaking off all fatigue, while Ravana, baffled by Sugreeva fell on ground with his body bathed in blood. Thus, the Lord of the monkeys, acquiring fame as a warrior, reducing Ravana to heavy exhaustion, ascended into the infinite sky and the offspring of the Sun then went to the side of Rama, who as in the middle of the mokye-troops.

Lord Yama's foot soldiers and Lord Yama himself had defeated and humiliated loser Ravan.
Then they abandoned the rakshasa’s immensely energetic advisers and attacked Dashanana with a shower of spears. The best among rakshasas on the vimana was wounded and mangled with these blows, blood flowing from his body. He looked like a blossoming ashoka tree. However, he was strongest among the strong and showered down spears, maces, javelins, spikes, darts, arrows, clubs, trees, mountains and other weapons. They countered all these with their own weapons. Hundreds and thousands of them attacked the terrible rakshasa who was fighting alone. Resembling mountains and clouds, all of them surrounded him. They incessantly showered down catapults and spears. With his armour shattered, he became angry. He became wet because of the blood that was flowing. He abandoned Pushpaka and stood on the ground. With the bow in his hand, the lord of the rakshasas stood on the ground. Having regained his senses in an instant, he was like another Death.

Yama approached Ravana and showered down spears and javelins, angrily piercing the rakshasa in his inner organs. Ravana remained steady and released showers of arrows on Vaivasvata’s chariot, like a cloud pouring down rain. He brought down one hundred large javelins on his broad chest. The rakshasa was incapable of countering these and suffered from these wounds. Yama, the afflicter of enemies, struck him with many weapons. The battle raged for seven nights .The battle between Yama and the rakshasa continued again. With Prajapati at the forefront, the gods, the gandharvas, the siddhas and the supreme rishis assembled as spectators in the field of battle.

When Lord Yama was about to kill him, then Bhagwan Brahmaji ordered Lord Yama to spare loser Ravan's life.
‘Yama became violently angry. Garlands of flames issued from his mouth. There were angry flames in his mouth and his breath. The gods, the danavas and the rakshasas witnessed this extraordinary sight. The blazing fire of anger was about to burn down the enemy’s army. Mrityu became extremely angry and spoke to Vaivasvata. “O god! Quickly grant me permission, so that I can slay this enemy in the battle. Naraka, Shambara, Vritra, Shambhu, the powerful Kartasvara, Namuchi, Virochana, Madhu, Kaitabha and many other powerful and extremely invincible ones have become distressed on seeing me. Why worry about this roamer in the night? O one who knows about dharma! It is best to grant me permission, so that I can kill him now. After seeing me, no one is capable of remaining alive even for an instant. This is not because of my strength. It is because of the importance that has been given to me. If I touch anyone, that person can no longer remain alive.”The powerful Dharmaraja heard his words and told Mrityu, “I will kill him.” The lord Vaivasvata’s eyes turned red with rage. He raised the invincible Kaladanda in his hand. Death’s solid noose was right next to it and so was the personified form of the club, like fire to the touch. As soon as they saw these, the lives of creatures started to dry up, not to speak of embodied beings being struck by these and suffering from these. Surrounded by flames, it was about to consume the roamer in the night. Angry, the powerful one touched the extremely terrible Kaladanda with his hand. All the creatures fled from the field of battle. On seeing that Yama had raised his Kaladanda, the gods were agitated. As soon as he raised this Kaladanda in Ravana’s direction, the grandfather showed himself and spoke these words. “O Vaivasvata! O mighty-armed one! O one who is infinite in valour! You should indeed withdraw the Kaladanda and not use it against the roamer in the night. O bull among the gods! I have granted him a boon. You should not render the words I spoke false. Placing Mrityu at the forefront, I had fashioned this Kaladanda earlier and in bringing down all creatures, it will be invincible. O amiable one! Therefore, you should not bring it down on this rakshasa’s head.If it is brought down, no one is capable of remaining alive even for an instant. If it is brought down and the rakshasa does not die, or if Dashagriva dies, in either case, a falsehood will be committed. Therefore, control the Kaladanda, which you have raised to bring about the death of the Indra among the rakshasas. While all the worlds look on, make my words come true.”

Vali had effortlessly defeated Ravan in physical fight and dragged Ravan across 4 oceans. Loser Ravan was not powerful enough to free himself from Vali.
Through the sound of the footsteps, Vali decided that Ravana was about to seize him. Without looking backwards, he extended his arms and grasped Ravana, like the one born from the egg seizes a serpent. The lord of the rakshasas desired to seize the ape, but was captured by him instead. Grasping him close to his side, the ape powerfully leapt up into the sky. He struck and pierced him repeatedly with his nails. Vali seized Ravana, like the wind seizing a cloud. He progressively reached all the oceans and performed the sandhya rites there. Travelling through the sky, the ape was worshipped by all the creatures who roamed around in the sky. With Ravana, Vali went to the western ocean. The ape performed the sandhya worship there, bathed and chanted. Bearing Ravana, he then went to the northern ocean. He performed the sandhya worship in the northern ocean. Bearing Dashanana, Vali then went to the eastern ocean, the great store of waters. Vasava’s son, the lord of the apes, performed the sandhya worship there. Seizing Ravana, he then returned towards Kishkindha. The ape had performed the sandhya rites in the four oceans. Ravan was tired and his eyes rolled around. The lord of the rakshasas addressed the lord of the apes in these words. “O Indra among the apes! You seized me like an animal and travelled around the four oceans.

Parameshwara Mahadeva had badly crushed loser Ravan just by a mere touch of his toe and made loser Ravan cry like a mad donkey even when loser Ravan had all his boons with him.
“Then, O Rama, Mahadeva, the foremost of the Gods, as if in sport, pressed the mountain with his great toe and, at the same time, he crushed Ravana, that resembled pillars of granite, to the great consternation of all the counsellors of that Rakshasa. And he, in pain and fury, suddenly let forth a terrible cry, causing the Three Worlds to tremble, so that his ministers thought it to be the crash of thunder at the dissolution of the worlds! Thereupon the Gods, with Indra at their head, stumbled on their way; the oceans became agitated, the mountains shook, and the Yakshas, Vidyadharas and Siddhas cried out:

Supreme Lord Rama effortlessly defeated loser Ravan 4 times and at last tore his heart into many pieces by a simple Brahma missile:
1st time (Bhagwan Shri Ramji Defeated loser Ravan in few seconds and made him helpless, but allowed him to run away.)
Going near his chariot with his sharp and pointed arrows, Rama shattered it along with its wheels, horses, banner, canopy, great standard, charioteer, darts, spears and swords.Thereupon, with a great force, Rama struck with his shaft shining brightly as the thunderbolt, that Ravana, the enemy of Indra, in his broad and beautiful chest, even as the mighty Indra would strike the Mount Meru with his thunderbolt. That valiant King of Demons, whom neither thunder nor lightning could cause disturbance or trembling; stumbled letting fall his bow at the valiant impact of Rama's missile which created a deep injurySeeing that Ravana swooning, the magnanimous Rama took up a blazing arrow shaped like a crescent moon and immediately used it to shatter the diadem of Ravana the Lord of Demons, which was of bright hue.
2nd time (Bhagwan Shri Ramji again defeated him and loser Ravan ran away after he was unable to withstand Shri Ram’s arrows)
“Becoming aware that it was not the time for feeling despondent, and looking at Lakshmana, Rama resumed that highly tumultuous battle with a great and whole-hearted endeavour, determined as he was to destroy Ravana.Torn asunder by the streams of a multitude of arrows by the great-souled Rama, who was armed with a blazing bow, while coming in collusion with him, Ravana took to his heels out of fear, like a cloud when pushed by a tempest.”

“Thus speaking, the valiant Rama, the annihilator of enemies, poured out streams of arrows on Ravana, who was in the vicinity. Recognizing those good omens, Rama, the destroyer of demons, tormented Ravana even more vehemently.Ravana could no longer take up weapons, nor stretch his bow, nor reacted to Rama's prowess - on account of his mind being confused. Seeing Ravana reduced to such a plight, the charioteer driving the chariot, for his part, without getting excited, calmly and slowly carried off his chariot away from the battle-front.”
4th and final(Lord Rama tears heart of loser Ravan into many pieces.)
“That enraged Rama, stretching his bow well and with an attentive mind, hurled that arrow which can tear off the vitals, towards Ravana. That arrow, which was inviolable as a thunderbolt hurled by the arms of Indra and irresistible as Yama the lord of Death, fell upon Ravana's chest. Smeared with blood on having killed Ravana and thereby accomplishing its mission, that arrow re-entered its own quiver (of Rama) silently. Having lost his life, that king of demons for his part, who was endowed with terrible swiftness and invested with great splendour, fell down from the chariot to the ground , like Vritra the demon when the latter was struck down by the thunderbolt.”

Thanks! Glories to Supreme Lord Narsimha
Yes, there are plenty of references. However, the word “asura” has a complicated history. The word started out as an adjective, not a noun. It meant “mighty”, “powerful”. In the early books of the Rg Veda, there are about sixteen hymns in which Indra is described as “asura” or possessing “asurya” or “asuratva”. Varuna is linked fourteen times to this word, and so too Agni, Mitra, Rudra and other major gods. But it’s not just gods. Because the word was used in an adjectival sense, it was used to describe kings, enemies and demons.
But in the later books of the Rg Veda (VI, VII, VIII, X) the word

Mahishasura Is The Most Overpowered Asura (As Far as I Know). For His Death Every Single God Including Trinity Combined Their Powers Into The Manifestation Of Adisakti. And Still He Did Put up a Good Fight. He Has Enough Physical Strength to Shook The Universe Just On Assuming His Terrible Form. Also His Fighting Style Is Quite Unique. Rapidly Switches Forms Into Various Animals , Hybrids Also Multiply Into Hundreds And Thousands Of Asuras.
… (more)You need to reframe the question by asking if Shiva, Vishnu & Brahma were known as Enki, Enlil & Anu in ancient Sumeria. & the Answer is yes.
1. Tarakasura.
The terrible demon king who was the grandson of sage Kashyapa. He repeatedly defeated the gods and routed the other classes of divine beings (gandharvas, yakshas, kinnaras, makaras) in battles. He was powerful enough to render the infallible disc of Lord Vishnu powerless on several occasions. He had a boon that only an offspring of Lord Shiva could vanquish him in battle.
2. Mahishasura.
He defeated Indra and the other gods after the conclusion of an epic battle which lasted for one hundred celestial years. He seized the powers of all the deities such as Indra, Surya, Varuna, Yama,
… (more)I was actually surprised to see god missing, the one I was expecting to find repeatedly mentioned. The god who redefined what it meant to be a badass….
LORD HANUMAN…!
While there are thousands of legends, from him routing a whole mountain and carrying it with him (how badass is that) to killing powerful demons.
However, my personal favorite is the episode when he invaded the city of Lanka, the capital of the most powerful demon king, Ravan and raised hell. This is the major theme of the fabled Sundar Kand, and some devotees fondly refer to it as “Lanka mein Danka”.
Imagine this, he was entitled wi
… (more)Before any funny Fools consider FEATS against Brahma.. I would Like to Make it Very Clear That BRAHMA IS NOT A FIGHTER. Any feat Against Brahma Is Useless Therefore.. Hiranyakashipu Tortured Brahma after Receiving boon from BRAHMA himself. Does That Make HK stronger ?
He just gives Boon and Curses and Him fighting a Battle Is Rarely Mentioned in any Purana. So Madhu And Kaitabha Stealing Vedas In sight of Brahma doesn't Make Them Stronger Than Him 😂..
Anyhow I'll use a Vaishnava Purana (Padma Purana) to Answer this…
Hanuman easily defeated VIRABHADRA and Also Overpowered Shiva In a Physical Duel
… (more)Lord Virabhadra killed Daksha
Later lord Shiva revived him
For the sake of procreation as it was his duty as Prajapati , Daksha was reborn as son of the Pracetas
Three questions for clarification please.
- Has Dharma really disappeared or declined or decreased and in which way and compared to which period?
- Are demons real? If so what is the evidence of them.
- “Kali” means strife, discord, quarrel - it is inherent in human nature and a consequence of cohabitation - wherever two people join together disagreement is inevitable. So has strife and discord really increased over time - say in the last century?
Here, have a look at Hindu mythology’s 10 strongest demons and their abilities-
10. Bhasmasura
Bhasmasura was a demon who had the power of turning anyone into ashes. All he had to do was to touch the person’s head with his hands. Well, I wish I had that power for some people.
9. Narkasura
The son of goddess Earth, Narkasura was blessed by god Vishnu to have the power to be strong enough to live almost anything and everything.
8. Banasura
Bali’s son, Banasura was a thousand armed demon king. After helping Lord Shiva, he became his protector. Just the influence of his name was enough to scare off king
