Pope Francis welcomed over a hundred leaders of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) on Wednesday and issued a strong condemnation of anti-Semitism. At a private audience with WJC President Ronald S. Lauder in the morning, the pontiff made it clear that outright attacks against Israel’s existence is a form of anti-Semitism.

 

“To attack Jews is anti-Semitism, but an outright attack on the State of Israel is also anti-Semitism. There may be political disagreements between governments and on political issues, but the State of Israel has every right to exist in safety and prosperity,” Pope Francis told Lauder and his delegation.

Jews and Catholics today marked the anniversary of the 1965 declaration Nostra Aetate, which condemned anti-Semitism and completely transformed and improved relations between Jews and Catholics.

Lauder praised the Pope for this powerful message and said relations between the two faiths were stronger than they had ever been before. The WJC president added: “Pope Francis does not simply make declarations. He inspires people with his warmth and his compassion. His clear and unequivocal support for the Jewish people is critical to us.”

Nearly 150 delegates and observers from the World Jewish Congress Governing Board took part in the public audience with the Pope in St. Peter’s Square on Wednesday. The delegates were in Rome for the Board’s annual meeting.

Recalling Nostra Aetate, a declaration adopted on 28 October 1965 by the Second Vatican Council, Pope Francis told the crowd in the square: “Indifference and opposition were transformed into cooperation and benevolence. Enemies and strangers have become friends and brothers. The Council, with the declaration Nostra Aetate, paved the way. It said yes to the rediscovery of the Jewish roots of Christianity, and no to any form of anti-Semitism and condemnation of any insult, discrimination and persecution derived from that.”

On Tuesday, the WJC Governing Board, representing over 100 Jewish communities around the world, held discussions which focused on the implications facing Jewish communities in light of the various conflicts in the Middle East, including the threat of jihadist terrorism.

The Governing Board reaffirmed its continued support of a two State solution and urged Israel and the Palestinian Authority to resume peace talks without preconditions as soon as possible.

The Board also called on the international community to maintain and, if necessary, expand sanctions on Iran until there is verification and international acceptance of Iran’s compliance with all the conditions of the nuclear deal.

Concerning the refugee crisis, the delegates passed a resolution calling on the international community to provide refugees with sanctuary irrespective of origin or religion, recalling the Talmudic maxim that says “He who saves a single life saves the whole world.”

Que peut-on faire pour améliorer le sommeil et les fonctions mentales des patients atteints de la maladie d’Alzheimer, dans l’attente de la disponibilité des patchs de VLT et de 6-MH (prévue pour le 4ème trimestre 2017) ? Les patchs à 2 réservoirs, appliqués au coucher et enlevés le matin au réveil, qui permettront de délivrer 100 microgrammes de 6-MH et 400 microgrammes de VLT, sur une période de 8 heures, ne seront pas disponibles, pour les patients atteints de maladies neuro-dégénératives, du type Parkinson et Alzheimer, avant le 4ème trimestre 2017. 

 

Dans cette attente, l’administration de Clomipramine (Anafranil® et génériques), à la dose d’un comprimé de 10 mg, le soir au coucher, peut se révèler bénéfique pour ces patients. En effet, les neuropsychiatres ont constaté, depuis de nombreuses années, que l’administration de Clomipramine améliore le sommeil et la cognition chez les personnes âgées et les patients atteints de la maladie d’Alzheimer. Cet effet thérapeutique s’explique par le fait que cet antidépresseur majeur, chef de file des IRN (Inhibiteurs du Recaptage de la Noradrénaline), provoque une stimulation noradrénergique des pinéalocytes (unités cellulaires de la glande pinéale), qui a pour conséquence d’augmenter les productions par la glande pinéale des 3 hormones (MLT, 6-MH et VLT) ; et ainsi d’améliorer le sommeil, la vigilance, et la cognition.

Not only is COVID not an equal-opportunity killer for individuals, but it is evidently also not an equal-opportunity killer for countries and regions, either. Africa has barely been touched by the virus -- and again, not because public-health PhDs have been having their way. In east Asia we've seen "policy invariance," according to Stanford's Jay Bhattacharya. Hard lockdown in China, lackluster response in Japan, and evidently good results in both cases. The COVID crazies in the West want to blame us: why, if only we'd been like east Asia, etc. But it's obvious, given the policy invariance, that something other than government policy is at work. That could be: Overall health, Vitamin D levels, age, or low obesity levels -- or T-cell immunity (Bhattacharya's supposition). In Japan, in fact, a September seroprevalence study yielded an astonishing result of 47%, which suggests masks and social distancing aren't the explanation for the low death count. Lots and lots of Japanese had it (so they failed to "stop the spread"), but they didn't get sick or die -- almost certainly because of preexisting immunity. Not because of the public-health PhDs. If government policy were the explanation, there should be piles of corpses in Florida at the moment, where even theater and live music have made a comeback. And yet such blue-state, "follow the science," ruin-people's-lives states like New York, California, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, New Mexico, and New Jersey, among others, have worse hospitalization numbers per million right now. All of this should be excruciatingly obvious by now. And yet chances are, you're surrounded by people trying to blame you and your neighbors for their bad behavior -- for bad behavior is what makes "cases" rise!
