Black Man shot dead by Police in Tottenham Hale, Lond
The later story that the CO19 Police Officer in Tottenham Hale was shot at first but was saved by his radio sounds very much like a Wild West story where a Sheriff kills a Native Indian and then claims that it was in self-defence because he was shot at first but ‘saved’ by his star badge.

Going to work by car on Friday 5th August 2011 around 7 am, I was stopped by the Police at Blackhorse Road Station junction. The Officer asked which way I was going and advised that I take the A406 North Circular Road instead as all roads through Tottenham Hale have been closed. I read the same morning that it was due to a Police Officer being ‘shot’ in Ferry Lane, Tottenham Hale the previous day at 6.15pm. Returning from work the same day, the other end of Tottenham Hale was still blocked and all traffic deviated. It did look very strange that the Police had blocked this road on both sides for over 24 hours and still longer as the night wore on. Given the efficiency and speed of the London Metropolitan Police, within a few hours, they should have gathered all evidence and restore life to normal. But it was not to be. Why?
In truth, the elite CO19 Officers working closely with the Trident Operational Command Unit (OCU) is the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) on gun related murders within the black community, had shot dead a Black man, a certain Mark Duggan, 29-year-old father-of-four, allegedly in self-defence because he had shot at an Officer first. The Officer was admitted to hospital but released shortly afterwards because his injury was not serious. The story got better. The Officer was allegedly miraculously saved by his radio which had taken the brunt of the Black man’s bullet. The story got better still. Mark Duggan was known to the Police who were already keeping an eye on him. He was shot dead not by the Officer who he allegedly shot at, but by other Officers on the scene. Mark Duggan was killed, some say « murdered », on the spot by two bullets either from the same gun or from two separate Officers.
Police blocked residents and potential witnesses
Mark Duggan’s family and those who knew him agreed that he may have been involved in things, but that he was never an aggressive person and never hurt anyone. They could not understand how he could have been killed by Police in such a way. Any case of Police shooting is automatically referred to the Police so-called Independent Complaints Commission (ICC) even though no one makes any complaint. So far, there is no independent corroboration of anything as all information comes from the Police. The area was sealed off by Police and residents and others suspect that the Police themselves may well tamper with the evidence and interfere with witnesses to cover-up any wrongdoing. The residents were not allowed home after the killing. Even « Shoppers who were in a supermarket in Ferry Lane were not allowed to leave as police taped off the entrance to the store », Haringey Independent, 5th August 2011.
The same techniques were used when, on 22nd July 2005 at Stockwell tube station, Jean Charles de Menezes was shot dead by a CO19 Officer on the tube with 8 bullets in his head and chest. Like Mark Duggan, he too was being watched by the Police. CCTV footages were confiscated and later alleged not to have been working. The Police even alleged that he was wearing a bulky jacket under which he was hiding a suicide vest when, in truth, he was wearing no jacket at all, but they still killed him ruthlessly anyway and the ICC exonerated the unnamed Officer in question. Similar techniques were used during 9/11 when all witnesses were intimidated and CCTV footages confiscated around the Pentagon because the building was hit by a guided missile and not by a passenger plane as alleged. Even the eye witnesses who said that the planes which sliced through the Twin Towers were unmarked military planes without windows were suppressed.

Even though Mark Duggan may have been carrying a gun (unlawfully) for his safety because he was apparently the target of a gang after his friend Kelvin Easton was killed by stabbing in Mile End on 27th March 2011, so far, there is no independent corroboration that on 4th August 2011 he shot at any Police Officer. People who know him reject this allegation and his killing sparked riots in Tottenham, spilling into Wood Green area, some reports say. Police cars, a bus and shops were attacked and burnt and many Police Officers injured. Black local MP David Lammy appealed for calm, arguing that to understand such violent killing, « we must have calm » as resorting to unlawful acts can only complicate matters. But, as is usually the case, the ICC is expected to exonerate the Police.
Case of Ian Tomlinson
People would remember the protests at the G20 summit in London in 2009. Ian Tomlinson was not even a protester; he was walking home when he was savagely pushed to the ground by a brutal Police Officer, from which he died. The mainstream media spun the story away from what really happened as they repeated Police allegations as fact without corroboration. The Daily Telegraph said : « As officers went to the man’s aid, they were pelted with bottles and other missiles, forcing them to retreat. » Even though there were various independent photograghs and footages, the ICC found nothing wrong and exonerated the Officer in question. But, although an inquiry found that Ian Tomlinson was unlawfully killed, it went out of its way to say that the Police « did not try to cover up Ian Tomlinson G20 death ».
In the case of the killing of Mark Duggan, not by the CO19 Officer who was allegedly shot at first and miraculously saved by his radio, but by other CO19 Officers present at the scene, there are no such photographs and footages and no independent corroboration of the Police stories. But one thing seems certain - the other Officers must have had their guns already pointed at Mark Duggan well before the alleged attempt to arrest him on 4th August 2011.

Precisely as we reported yesterday on the back of numerous eyewitness reports, it has now emerged that police were ordered to stand down and let London burn during the first few nights of rioting, an action that quickly led to a frightened public to demand troops on the streets, rubber bullets, water cannons and curfews.
On Tuesday we highlighted the “lackluster police response, with numerous reports from the public that police stood back and allowed looters to pillage both large department stores and private small businesses for hours on end.”
According to eyewitnesses to the initial riots in Tottenham, police were seen “standing back and allowing rioters to cause havoc,” a trend that continued during subsequent nights before Prime Minister David Cameron ordered 10,000 extra police officers to patrol London last night.
This has now been confirmed by sources within Scotland Yard who said police were ordered to “stand and observe” even as brazen acts of violent crime were committed against both people and private property, a directive which prevented them from arresting any of the troublemakers.
The decision to order police to stand down is being explained as a reaction to public outcry following the death of Ian Tomlinson, a newspaper seller who was killed by riot cops during the G20 summit in 2009.
However, as we have exhaustively documented, authorities routinely allow chaos to spiral out of control, even to the extent of hiring their own provocateurs, in order to manipulate the public into demanding greater police state measures that ultimately only serve to oppress legitimate dissent against the state.
The police’s inadequate response quickly led to calls for martial law, curfews and the use of water cannons on streets in England for the first time, a power that Prime Minister David Cameron has now authorized.
Britain’s most widely-read newspaper The Sun ran a poll today which found that two thirds of Brits support the use of rubber bullets to deal with rioters, while 33 per cent supported the use of live bullets.
“Curfews are backed by 82 per cent, using tear gas got 78 per cent support and Tasers 72 per cent,” states the report.

Police were ordered to 'stand and observe' rioters as they laid waste to London's streets instead of confronting them, it was claimed today.
Scotland Yard insiders have revealed teams were frustrated at their inability to wade in and arrest troublemakers while they looted and burnt out shops.
They had apparently been told to try and contain any violence but not to haul away offenders who would instead be identified through video footage later, according to The Times.
It was only on Monday night, when the riots escalated still further, that tactics changed and armoured vehicles called Jankels were used to disperse the crowds.
On Tuesday night, some 16,000 officers also flooded London's streets - almost triple the previous night's deployment - and they were finally given the green light to confront the gangs.
The Met has also come under fire for taking three days to issue any images of suspects - and then only releasing 12 grainy pictures. The Mail Online managed to produce another 30 with ease.
In contrast, Greather Manchester Police were issuing images online via social network sites within hours of similar violence in their area.
In Birmingham, police tracked down suspected rioters hours later and smashed into their homes to arrest them.
Officers mounted raids on around a dozen properties across the city and made seven arrests. They also recovered apparently looted items.
The police's tactics have led to much public criticism from residents and business owners, who are bemused at the 'soft' approach when their livelihoods are being ruined.
Eye witnesses have told of ranks of police standing by while mobs of youths rampaged and stole from shop fronts and terrorised residents.
However, it has been suggested that the approach may also have been dictated by the sheer scale of the problem with teams unable to spare officers to make arrests on the spot.
There have also been calls for far more robust measures - including plastic bullets, water cannon and even the Army - to quell the chaos.
It has been suggested that the softer approach has been sparked by controversy over the death of Ian Tomlinson during the G20 riots and wider criticism of policing during protests.
Mr Tomlinson was struck by a policeman wielding a baton during the G20 protests in 2009 and shoved to the ground.
He suffered massive internal bleeding and died minutes later. The officer involved is now awaiting trial for manslaughter over his death.
Scotland Yard was also heavily criticised in the High Court in April for using 'kettling' during the G20 demonstrations.
Judges ruled the Met had broken the law in the way it kettled 5,000 protesters because it was 'unjustified' and an unlawful deprivation of liberty.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Stephen insists 'nobody' gave any instruction to go soft. 'I'm now aware of any order to take things easy,' he told BBC's Radio 4 Today programme.
He said: 'We have had this allegation made a few times. You have to realise we had over 3,000 officers on Sunday night. That is the size of two small forces combined. It is a significant asset that we put out there.
'We filled the cells of London on Sunday and Monday night, we drove Jankels at looters - if that is taking things easy, I don't understand that logic.'
He admitted there were 'significant gaps' in the police response and that they were 'enormously stretched'.
But he insisted: 'As far as I'm concerned Chris Allison and Lynne Owens who led this did not give any instruction and nobody else has either.'
On wider tactics, he said everything 'from local engagement to extreme use of force' had been considered.
Officers trained in using baton rounds were ready if needed but there are currently no water cannon on the British mainland, he added.
Baton rounds, or plastic bullets, can only be used if sanctioned by the commissioner of the Met Police and have never been fired on the British mainland.
They were issued to police at the Broadwater Farm riots in Tottenham in 1985 but never used - although the weapons are apparently also issued annually for the Notting Hill Carnival.

The Riots: is it Poverty or Greed?
There is chaos in the stock market, and on the streets of London. Is there a connection between the rioters and the investors? The common thread is economics, as some argue that a lack of economic opportunities is causing, or at least contributing, to these riots; the youths dissatisfied are expressing their anger. Well so far, most of those wearing hoods and with faces covered have prepared for a different agenda, and that is looting. To date, no one has come forward elaborating the case for their violent dissent, and under those circumstances, one can only infer their motive from their actions. Indeed, lack of economic opportunities seems to be the primary cause, because the rioters are breaking into the shops creating economic ‘opportunities’ for themselves!
If anyone seriously wants to examine the issue of economic opportunities, then they should look at places like Somalia, Ethiopia and other parts of the world where children are begging or working like slaves, to support families. They do not have the ‘luxury’ to riot for a Plasma TV or Nike trainers and they would be more than content with what we throw away on a daily basis here in the West. If those kids rioted for basic necessities, that would be a genuine ‘riot’!
So far, we have inferred their motive from their deeds, but what about deterrence. Once again, this is another proof that the legal system in the UK is inadequate in terms of deterring crimes; hence, despite the presence of CCTV cameras and crowds of people, the looters are destroying property, and openly committing theft. Even in poverty stricken countries, the youths do not rampage like this, because the retribution is swift and ‘adequate’.
Apart from the legal deterrence, values should prevent such acts from taking place, and that should be the biggest deterrence. What and where are those values? Everyone moans that parents and teachers should inculcate moral values in the children, but they are collectively up against a hostile society, where materialism and greed are the fuel for its engine. From cradle to grave, the masses are bombarded with media images and peer pressure for the need to acquire the latest: gadgets, trainers, clothes, cars. In capitalism greed is a virtue, not a vice. It is the combination of greed (the culture of materialism), freedom or lawlessness, coupled with a lack of legal deterrence that has encouraged the rioters to openly loot.
It is unfortunate that some are trying to ‘justify’ these criminal acts using the age-old excuse that the police are racist; they deny the allegation of justification by stating that they are merely explaining the causes for such criminal behaviour. If the racism of the police is the cause then the battle should be with them, and not with the properties and shops.
What will the outsiders make of this? Responses will vary depending on location and circumstance. However, most certainly, the citizens of Gaza, Afghanistan and Iraq will say: like Norway, London and the other cities of the UK are getting a very small taste of what we have been subjected to for decades, and this is ongoing. In the US, another gunman struck, killing eight people and such events are seen frequently. How ironic that after allowing Islamophobes to tarnish the Muslims with the terrorism brush, the West is experiencing terrorism directly from Islamophobes and from within, meaning the non-Muslim section of the population. For now, it has silenced those venomous snakes that spread anti-Islamic poison.
The Muslim citizens should not be spectators. They should follow the example of the Prophet (saw), who created peace between feuding tribes by engaging with them. There is a responsibility to come forward and engage with the wider society to create peace and security for all, perhaps open the Mosques and invite everyone to a constructive dialogue, and in the month of Ramadan, the least we can do is offer prayers for peace.
