Voici la vidéo de la conférence tenue par Salim Laïbi, le 6 décembre
2015, à l’université de Bouira, en Algérie, sur le thème de la modernité
et de la faillite qui en a découlé. L’auteur présente, pour ainsi dire,
son ouvrage, La Faillite du monde moderne, tout en prenant le soin
d’avertir qu’il ne s’agit pas de tout rejeter en bloc, en niant les
progrès évidents, mais de dénoncer le mauvais usage qui en a été fait.
Rabelais disait déjà : « science sans conscience n’est que ruine de
l’âme. » L’auteur déplore que Dieu ait été remplacé par la science et
que cette dernière ait été expurgée de toute spiritualité. L’homme s’est
en effet mué en un apprenti sorcier ayant couvert la planète entière
d’une radioactivité mortifère et a constitué un arsenal d’armes de
destruction massive menaçant jusqu’à sa propre existence. Sous couvert
de modernité, l’homme s’est autorisé un nombre incalculable d’entorses à
la morale et à la loi de Dieu : corruption, usure, avortement, mariage
pour tous, théorie du genre. Par ailleurs, les diverses manipulations
génétiques déjà entreprises ne présagent rien de bon et il est à
craindre que la civilisation humaine soit engloutie dans un chaos
généralisé. La solution consiste en un retour à une vie spirituelle,
plaçant Dieu au centre de l’univers, afin que ses prescriptions pleines
de sagesse libèrent l’homme de cette folie. Il rejoint dans ce sens le
discours de Hamza Benaïssa, l’auteur de l’ouvrage La Connaissance
traditionnelle et l’épistémologie moderne, qui développe admirablement
bien ce concept philosophique (ici).

Sharing deep insights from her personal research, Lucy Bushill-Matthews explores the hopes and needs of Muslim schoolchildren, considers how much children are tolerating difference or going beyond tolerance, and discovers that we are all part of the solution. Lucy was aged sixteen when she met a Muslim for the first time. Whilst going on to study Economics at Cambridge University, she looked into Christianity and Islam, and unexpectedly found herself compelled by what she found to make a life-changing decision about her faith. Lucy now heads up Strategy, Policy and Research for the National Zakat Foundation, a thought-leading Muslim organisation in the UK. Lucy is author of "Welcome to Islam-a convert's tale" and has been a regular columnist in Emel lifestyle magazine. Separately, Lucy co-founded and ran a madrasah (Muslim after-school group) for many years, and now co-leads a youth group that teaches Muslim children and teenagers to think about their faith in context, and engage with it intellectually, practically, and through service to others.
